My 50th Birthday Party

Several years ago, 35 to be exact, we celebrated my 50th birthday.

My whole family showed up plus some good friends. Then they started performing my “present.”

They were going to do a RAP! So, 5 of them lined up.

My daughter Marie was first. Her verse was:

Hello, hello, I’m here to say

Carol Ann was born on this day

Years before she was gray.

Then they all turned to the left and beat boxed into their fists. (This is making percussion sounds with their mouth while moving to the beat.) Then all turned to the right and beat box into their fists,

My mother (in her 70’s) was second.

We’re here to cheer

For Carol Ann

Look around, it’s the whole darn clan!

All turn left, beat box. All turn right, beat box.

Next was my dad (in his 70’s).

Now my dear, please don’t fret

But family members don’t forget.

We know your age, but won’t disclose

We’ll leave you smelling like a rose!

All turn left, beat box. All turn right, beat box.

[By this time, the whole audience is bursting with laughter!]

Next was my brother, Dick.

Happy Birthday wishes for you

Without us, what would you do

You could spend the day without us

But that’s as much fun as taking the bus!

All turn left, beat box. All turn right, beat box.

Then my daughter, Marie again.

Hey, hey, hey, this is my mother

In all the world, there is none other

And I say to you, big and bold

She’s as precious as solid gold!

All turn left, beat box. All turn right, beat box.

Finally, my sister, Mary Margaret:

And this woman should be praised

For 3 kids she has raised

Such a good job she has done

That in our hearts, she is NUMBER ONE!!!

Then all 6 together:

Yo, Yo, Yo from the whole clan

Happy Birthday, Carol Ann!!!

Can you imagine a better birthday present?

This year I’m enjoying my birthday in Arizona with friends and family.

Everything in excess! To enjoy the flavor of life, take big bites, Moderation is for monks!
